Ernest Schwiebert was passionate about these issues. He held
dual Ph.D. degrees in architecture and fine arts. He was a professional
fly-fisherman. However and most importantly, he was an artist and a scientist
for the disciplines above and their many sub-disciplines. He was an
entomologist, a conservationist, an ichthyologist, an artist, an architect, an
author, and a fly-fisherman. He dealt with these disciplines alone and
integrated together. He saw the art and the science and the beauty in every
discipline. He was also a champion of long-term thought and integrative
thinking. Although opinionated at
times and stubborn in his ideals, the biology and its preservation always came
first. He is missed but he is with us in his works and in these ideals. They
will not be lost.
