Foundation Profile

 ABOUT US

The Foundation is a work in progress.  The idea came from his son, Dr. Erik Mills Schwiebert, Ph.D.  He and the Schwiebert family are working on this website and this Foundation idea on our own personal time.

 MISSION STATEMENT

Ernest Schwiebert was passionate about these issues. He held dual Ph.D. degrees in architecture and fine arts. He was a professional fly-fisherman. However and most importantly, he was an artist and a scientist for the disciplines above and their many sub-disciplines. He was an entomologist, a conservationist, an ichthyologist, an artist, an architect, an author, and a fly-fisherman. He dealt with these disciplines alone and integrated together. He saw the art and the science and the beauty in every discipline. He was also a champion of long-term thought and integrative thinking.  Although opinionated at times and stubborn in his ideals, the biology and its preservation always came first. He is missed but he is with us in his works and in these ideals. They will not be lost.

This website and Foundation are created to serve several purposes:

Short-term goals:

  1. Preserve the legacy and ideals of Ernest Schwiebert.
  2. Showcase past and emerging works of Ernest Schwiebert.
  3. Provide a vehicle to auction past and emerging works and effects of Ernest Schwiebert. (The majority of the proceeds will be used Purposes below).

Long-term goals:

  1. Establish a not-for-profit fund to establish and maintain this website and the “Schwiebert Foundation for Biology, Conservation, Salmon and Trout.”
  2. Grow this fund to help others preserve and pursue the ideals and disciplines mentioned above through small grants.
  3. Provide a vehicle for comments and essays from others about trout and salmon biology, nymph and mayfly and caddis biology, conservation of watersheds and wildlife, and biology in all of its forms.
